Welcome to theRural Community of Upper Miramichi!!
Miramichi became a Rural Community on March, 17, 2008 having formerly been a
local service district. The Rural Community includes 16 neighborhoods
stretching between McGivney and the Village of Doaktown including Astle, Big Hole
Brook, Bloomfield Ridge, Boiestown, Carroll's Crossing, Hayesville, Holtville,
Ludlow, McGivney, McNamee, Nelson Hollow, New Bandon, Parker Ridge, Priceville
and Taxis River.
Located in the Center of New Brunswick, in just under an hour, you can be in either Fredericton or the City of Miramichi; in two or less you can reach Moncton, Saint John, or Bathurst. Just over two hours' driving time puts you in either Grand Falls or Campbellton, while Edmundston is a little over three hours away. Two hours can also put you in the USA while Halifax, Nova Scotia and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island are both easy day trips on excellent and uncongested highways with lots of beautiful scenery to make your trip even more enjoyable.
Whether you’re interested in the history of the forest industry in
the area—The Central NB Woodmen’s Museum is a great opportunity to learn
first-hand about this way of life. Or you may wish to see attractions that
are the largest of their kind in the province like Fall Brook Falls, a 30
metre plunge at 90 degree slope, or the Priceville Footbridge, the longest
suspension footbridge in New Brunswick.
Whatever your reason, take the time to enjoy the scenery and the people of Upper Miramichi. You won’t be disappointed.
